In July and August we have a Family reunion to attend from my Dad's side! In July is my Dad's parents and siblings and their families and August is my Dad's Grandma's side of the Family! Both are fun to attend! I will start with the Phillips Reunion in July. We had it at Lava Hot Springs in Idaho this year again! Usually we camp out as a family but this year our reservation was canceled by the camp ground for the owners purposes of who knows what? This year the kids and I stayed in a cute little lodge with my Grandma while everyone else was scattered in motels, R.V.'s or tents in Lava or Soda Springs. We used the city park for our main gatherings on Saturday and Sunday and our lodge was used for a mingling spot on Friday night where everyone stopped by to see Grandma! Friday night we also headed over to the hot pools with my Brother and his 3 girls and my Sister and her son. Saturday we went to the Olympic pools for the first half of the afternoon. Went to dinner and family games in the park then took tubes down the Portneuf River a couple times until it got dark. We then went back to the hot pools that night! Sunday my Sister and her son had a long drive back to the Portland Oregon area so they left before the sun came up and we had our pull apart and fruit breakfast in the park. After breakfast and good-byes we headed back home!
The Slaugh Reunion is a one day event where there is alot of good food, life histories are read, some entertainment of one kind or the other (talents show) and my kids favorite the white elephant gift auction to raise family genealogy funds. This year we decided we had enough in savings to hire a genealogist in New Jersey to see if we are related to some Phillips we found that had come through Ellis Island a long time ago. I don't have many pictures from this reunion but here are a few.
Bad picture but these two are my Great Grandparents Harvey Phillips and Jennie May Slaugh Phillips.
This is a picture of my Great Grandparents and their siblings as adults I believe, my Great Grandma is in the center of the 3 automobiles.
This in one of the forms of entertainment we had! Very cute chickens, roosters and one cow puppet (not pictured) made from cereal boxes squawking and mooing to a beat!
